    Hotel rooms versus apartments
Staying in a private rental vacation apartment in Norway may cut your holiday cost. Often it is also possible to accommodate more people in an apartment then in a double room in a hotel. Most apartments are also more cosy then A4 hotel rooms. Another huge advantage renting an apartment is that you may prepare your own food and save money on expensive restaurant food.

    Voss rafting

    Voss rafting

Norway offers a wide range of activities for all. Norway is known worldwide for the great nature and this summer we will visit some of the many places. Some visits focus on the sites and some focus on activities.

    Voringsfossen waterfall
Voringsfossen is located next to the Highway 7 / Riksvei 7 between Oslo and Bergen. The Voringsfossen waterfall drop is 182 meter / 600 feets high. We plan to hike from Riksvei 7 and in to the foot of Voringsfossen. This would be an interesting angle :)   We are now checking out if this is possible. We are waiting for a reply from the Eidfjord Tourist information office. If it is possible, we plan it as a day trip from Bergen.

    Sea kayaking in Sognefjorden
Base for this trip is Voss, located 1,5 hour by car from Bergen. We have seen some very nice photos from earlier trips and really looking forward to Continue reading →

Bergen: Hiking Vidden Mt. Ulriken to Mt. Floyen

Hiking at Vidden, from Mount Ulriken to Mount Ulriken, is an approx. 5 hour hike. Mount Ulriken and Mount Floyen are two of the seven mountains surounding Bergen. To get to Mount Ulriken you can walk, go by car or go by your own car. This time we went by the Ulriken cable car up to the top of Mount Ulriken (NOK 80,- one way).

    The Vidden hiking path
From Mount Ulriken we followed the path over Vidden. Signs mark the path, but it is a great chance to get lost if you don’t pay attention. It is recommended to bring a map. If you feel that you are off the path, do not be afraid to ask other hikers for directions.

    The road is the goal
We had a lot of breaks along the way and walked quite slowly as we find it important to enjoy the hike. The road is the goal.

    Mount Floyen
At Mount Floyen you find a restaurant and a kiosk. The view from the the top of Mount Floyen is great. Tickets to the Bergen funicular may also be bought at the top of Mount Floyen if you don’t want to walk down.

Going to the center of Bergen
At Mount Floyen you have the options to either walk down to the center of Bergen or go by the Bergen funicular. I went down and used approx. 35 minutes to the center of Bergen.

    Bergen Hiking Vidden Facts:
    Hike date: June 7th, 2009
    Time: approx. 5 hours
    Difficult level: Active hikers
